FG Delaying End To Strike – ASUU The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday said that the Federal Government should be held responsible for the unions continuous strike . The union said that the way the FG was handling the development represented the mockery of global standards of university education . ASUU chairman at the University of Ibadan, Dr Deji Omole , who said this on a radio programme monitored in Ibadan, said the FG could end the strike by implementing the agreement it reached with the union . He explained that all that the union was demanding from the FG was to use public funds to develop public education in the country . President Buhari Set For US Trip on Monday President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja on Monday, September 4, 2017 for a trip to Washington, DC. Mr. Buhari's trip to the US is at the invitation of President Donald Trump, with a Nigerian Presidency source telling our correspondent that Mr. Trump extended the invitation last February, shortly after his inauguration. According to an itinerary seen by SaharaReporters, Mr. Buhari is scheduled to leave his hometown, Daura, by helicopter at 9:15 am on Monday for Katsina airport. From the airport, he will fly out at 10 am aboard a presidential jet to Washington, DC. "Re-Arrest Kanu, Face Consequences" - Militants Tell FG Niger Delta militants have warned the Federal Government of the dangers the country would face, if the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is re-arrested by security agents. The militants also gave government a two-week ultimatum to release two members of IPOB, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and Bright Chimezie, who had been in detention, threatening to commence attack after the expiration. Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa Village, Raze Hospital, Houses Boko Haram insurgents Tuesday night attacked Nguru-Barkin Dutse village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State and razed the newly renovated hospital and several other houses in the village. Confirming the attack on Wednesday to THISDAY, the council chairman, Hon. LIVE ON BENUE Benue state Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu says there is no plan by the Samuel Ortom Government to slash salaries of workers in the state, rather, he said there is increased interest in how to regularize the payment of workers’ salaries as and when due. Engr Abounu who is chairman, State Emergency Committee on Salary Payment disclosed that the main agenda of the committee is to work out modalities that will ensure the regular payment of workers’ salaries as well as the payment of the back-log of arrears.
