Traders in Abuja have narrated how popular Nigerian musician, Charly Boy Oputa escaped death after he was attacked by Pro-Buhari supporters.
Eyewitnesses have narrated how popular musician, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy, who has been leading a campaign for the return or resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari escaped death after angry protesters believed to be supporters of the president attacked him in Wuse Market, Abuja.
This comes after the musician and his fellow campaigners were last week attacked by security officials who dispersed them violently from the Unity fountain, also in Abuja.
Narrating how Charly Boy escaped death, a trader told Premium Times: “Charly Boy came to this market with some cameramen doing his protest here.
”I was standing in front of my shop when I saw him running for his dear life, being chased by those youth.
“They nearly lynched him, because those youth almost overpowered police security near him.” the trader said.
The report further revealed that the musician was rescued by security operatives who fired gunshots and tear-gas to disperse the crowd. The security operatives later returned to remove Charly Boy’s vehicles from the market, using tear-gas to disperse the protesters who tried to stop them.
Wuse market ‎is Abuja’s largest and is dominated by northerners, many of them supporters of President Buhari. The gates of the market were temporarily closed and manned by heavily armed security operatives after the incident.
“Charly Boy caused it, how can he come here to be talking against Buhari.
Those Hausa boys dealt with him,” a meat seller in the market who witnessed the incident said.
It will be recalled that President Buhari has been in London on medical vacation for about 100 days which has left many people demanding for his return.

Cashless policy: Reps, CBN agree no time limit for old naira notes 31/01/2023

Published by   ECHEKWU SUNDAY  JNR @  EKUM BLOG  The House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Nigeria have agreed that a time limit will no longer apply to the validity of old naira notes after the expiration of the February 10 deadline set by the apex bank. This means that the face value of the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes will continue to be redeemable in compliance with Section 20 (3) of the CBN Establishment Act. Banks will continue to mop up the notes after they cease to be legal tender on February 10 without a time limit. The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was directed to submit a weekly report on releases of the new notes to commercial banks so that the House could verify claims by the CEOs of the banks that the apex bank had not been releasing enough cash to them. The CBN was also directed to restore over-the-counter transactions by the banks and increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawal limits in order to fast-track the circulation of the new no
