PDP NATIONAL CONVENTION

Ahead of Saturday’s non- elective convention of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), immediate past President of the Senate , Senator David Mark has called for a hitch free convention that would further strengthen the party. Senator Mark in a good will message to delegates to the convention craved for a peaceful convention that would further unite the party and give all faithful a sense of belonging.
The former Senate President expressed optimism about the future of the party saying ” I am impressed with the renewed enthusiasm and commitment of our members towards rebuilding the party after the protracted leadership tussle “. It will be recalled that Shortly after the Presidential election of 2015 in which the PDP lost to the All Progressive Congress ( APC) party, scores of PDP members decamped to the ruling party.

But Senator Mark against all odds and widespread speculation that he would do same, precisely on April 8, 2015, told Nigerians that “I will be the last man standing in the PDP”. According to Mark then, “Even if I will be the last man standing in the PDP, I will remain in PDP . I have no reasons whatsoever to leave the party. I have risen to where I am as a Senate President on the platform of the party. The PDP has a manifesto and I believe in it.
According to his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Paul Mumeh Says Those who are decamping from PDP to APC are fair weather friends of the Party. “So, the point I want to make is that I remain in PDP and I will work hard with other faithful members to bring it back. This is democracy, there will always be a winner and a loser in every election. Both parties must accept the outcome in a free and fair contest and move on.”

Senator Mark therefore tasked the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led special convention committee not to leave any stone unturned to guarantee a hitch free exercise . “We have come this far through a tortuous journey . We cannot afford to make another mistake that could affect the fortunes of the party in the days ahead,” he counseled.

Cashless policy: Reps, CBN agree no time limit for old naira notes 31/01/2023

Published by   ECHEKWU SUNDAY  JNR @  EKUM BLOG  The House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Nigeria have agreed that a time limit will no longer apply to the validity of old naira notes after the expiration of the February 10 deadline set by the apex bank. This means that the face value of the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes will continue to be redeemable in compliance with Section 20 (3) of the CBN Establishment Act. Banks will continue to mop up the notes after they cease to be legal tender on February 10 without a time limit. The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was directed to submit a weekly report on releases of the new notes to commercial banks so that the House could verify claims by the CEOs of the banks that the apex bank had not been releasing enough cash to them. The CBN was also directed to restore over-the-counter transactions by the banks and increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawal limits in order to fast-track the circulation of the new no
