DRIVERS DESERVE BETTER TREATMENT, Prof. Kembe The Vice-Chancellor, Benue State University, Makurdi, Professor Msugh Moses Kembe has said Drivers in any institution/establishment, whether public/private, deserve better treatment to perform their work optimally. Professor Kembe disclosed this at the Senior Staff Club, Benue State University, Makurdi during the celebration of End of Year Party and Award Night for Drivers of the University. He explained that drivers perform the most challenging and tasking schedules in organizations; traversing the length and breadth of the country but are most neglected and abandoned group as regards their welfare. The Vice-Chancellor maintained that, it is based on the need to improve their performance that he constructed an Office Complex for Drivers in the University and also approved a 3-day training Competency Assessment Protocol for Drivers conducted by the Benue State Command, Federal Road Safety Corps to enhance their performance. Professor Kembe stressed that the End of Year Party was to appreciate their services in the University and reward deserving Drivers as morale booster even as he charged them not to relent. The Acting Registrar, Mrs Catherine Terlumun Bur, in her Opening Remarks, stated that the Vice-Chancellor approved the End of Year Party and Award Night for drivers of the University for their dedication and commitment to duty. Mrs Bur disclosed that since the establishment of the University over twenty-five years ago, no accident has been recorded by any Driver of the University despite the deplorable condition of Nigerian roads. Drivers who received commendation awards include: Simon Katseen, Obedience in Service; Titus Tsee, Long Service and Dedication to duty; Matthew Sardauna Audu, Dedication to Service and Terkende Shija, Humility in Service. Four Drivers received award of Commitment to Service: Shiabu Idoga, Japhet Iornum, John Ogbe and Kor Adasu with Godfrey Nyamor, Selfless Service to Humanity; Alama Amedu, Passion to Serve with Orgen Jumbu, Posthumous Award for Dedication to Service. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Edward Agbo Omudu, the wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elizabeth Kembe, the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr Paul Angahar, the Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Vitalis Tarhule and a member of the Governing Council, Dr Scholastica Banka assisted the Vice-Chancellor in presenting the Awards to the recipients. In his Vote of thanks, the Transport Officer, Mr. Simon Katseen commended the Vice-Chancellor for organising the end of Year Party and Award Night and assured that Drivers would do their best to justify the Vice-Chancellor’s huge investment in the Unit.

Cashless policy: Reps, CBN agree no time limit for old naira notes 31/01/2023

     Published by   ECHEKWU SUNDAY  JNR @  EKUM BLOG  The House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Nigeria have agreed that a time limit will no longer apply to the validity of old naira notes after the expiration of the February 10 deadline set by the apex bank. This means that the face value of the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes will continue to be redeemable in compliance with Section 20 (3) of the CBN Establishment Act. Banks will continue to mop up the notes after they cease to be legal tender on February 10 without a time limit. The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was directed to submit a weekly report on releases of the new notes to commercial banks so that the House could verify claims by the CEOs of the banks that the apex bank had not been releasing enough cash to them. The CBN was also directed to restore over-the-counter transactions by the banks and increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawal limits in order to fast-track the circulation of the new no
