WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY part 2

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY part 2 By N. OLUCHI JOY I continued knocking until I got tired. I shouldn't have bothered myself, I thought. I had wanted to leave at that moment, but I turned to see the curious eyes of the little girl, glaring at me with hope. I knew I had to do something. I cannot stop what I had started. I knocked few more times on the door, and then it occurred to me that whomsoever was inside was not ready to come out, and I had to go because it was already late. Sadly, I instructed the girl to keep knocking, that she should make sure she gets inside because this kind of rain can cause sickness. "Aunty abeg open door for this pikin to enter inside, cold dey." I said, and then turned and started going. I had barely walked few steps away, when I heard a high pitched voice called out, "na who be that person?. I was startled. I had already given up, I had lose interest in the case. "Ma, please allow this little girl to go inside, I said, as I walked towards her, " rain dey fall and cold dey." I did not know where the calm voice had come from. "Why I go open the door for her?", the woman queried, with that same high pitched voice that frightened me. I stared at her for some moment while she talked, I do not know what to say again. So, I turned towards the position of the little girl, ignoring the woman's explanation amidst shouting. " Baby girl, have you heard what your mom said?". I asked, not sure of what next to say. "Next time, once it is six O clock, make sure you go inside okey?, don't hang around with your friends until this late hours okey?. The woman was still explaining herself with that same high pitched voice, this time around, pouring out her anger which I guess she had been nursing all the while, redirecting questions that seems rhetorical to either the little girl or me, I can't tell. Cashless policy: Reps, CBN agree no time limit for old naira notes 31/01/2023

Published by   ECHEKWU SUNDAY  JNR @  EKUM BLOG  The House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Nigeria have agreed that a time limit will no longer apply to the validity of old naira notes after the expiration of the February 10 deadline set by the apex bank. This means that the face value of the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes will continue to be redeemable in compliance with Section 20 (3) of the CBN Establishment Act. Banks will continue to mop up the notes after they cease to be legal tender on February 10 without a time limit. The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was directed to submit a weekly report on releases of the new notes to commercial banks so that the House could verify claims by the CEOs of the banks that the apex bank had not been releasing enough cash to them. The CBN was also directed to restore over-the-counter transactions by the banks and increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawal limits in order to fast-track the circulation of the new no
