WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY by N.OLUCHI JOY Republished by Nigerian news vendor I was returning from an errand when I saw a little girl outside, standing in front of their door step. Immediately, I perceived that something was wrong. I had wanted to ignore whatever the case might be and move on, but I went straight to her and ask her and ask her what the matter was. The little girl did not reply me. Rather, she held the door handle and tried opening it, like everything was normal, like she was only standing outside for a while to go out inside later, but the handle went limply, it was locked from inside. Unknowingly to her, I had already sensed the problem, I wasn't surprised by her act. I told her to knock for whomsoever was inside because it was rainy, and that kind of rain usually comes with cold which can attract sickness. She knocked severally, but there was no reply. Whomsoever was inside that house wasn't ready to open for the little girl, I thought. So, I took it upon myself and knocked hard on the door. Still, there was no reply. I knocked again, and suddenly, a sleepy female voice answered from inside, "who be dat?, you wan buy kerosene?." "No", I answered. Please come out, I said. Again, there was no response. And then I continued knocking harder. I knew knocking would intrude rudely on her sleep, i knew she might come out to shout at me, but I was ready to face whatever comes my way, as long as she let the little girl inside!. #whathappenedyesterday #Checkoutforparttwo By Oluchi OlucOluchi JoyOluchi Joy

Cashless policy: Reps, CBN agree no time limit for old naira notes 31/01/2023

Published by   ECHEKWU SUNDAY  JNR @  EKUM BLOG  The House of Representatives and the Central Bank of Nigeria have agreed that a time limit will no longer apply to the validity of old naira notes after the expiration of the February 10 deadline set by the apex bank. This means that the face value of the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes will continue to be redeemable in compliance with Section 20 (3) of the CBN Establishment Act. Banks will continue to mop up the notes after they cease to be legal tender on February 10 without a time limit. The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, was directed to submit a weekly report on releases of the new notes to commercial banks so that the House could verify claims by the CEOs of the banks that the apex bank had not been releasing enough cash to them. The CBN was also directed to restore over-the-counter transactions by the banks and increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cash withdrawal limits in order to fast-track the circulation of the new no
